Principal's Message

Welcome to Morello Park Where Great Minds Grow!

Dear Morello Park Elementary Families,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as the new principal at Morello Park Elementary School. Morello Park Elementary has a long-standing reputation of academic excellence along with a high level of parent and community support. I feel fortunate to be joining a school culture dedicated to doing what's best for our students academically, socially and emotionally. Our teachers and staff are focused on rigorous student learning, in a safe and supportive school environment. Prior to my appointment, I was a teacher in Lafayette Unified School District and here in Martinez Unified School District. Last year I served as vice principal at Pleasant Hill Middle School in Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Through my experiences I have enjoyed working with students, staff, parents and community members to create a safe and supportive learning environment where all students can be successful. Please also help me in welcoming new staff members to our MPE community.

First Grade: Mrs. Aly Stephenson and Mrs. Amanda Zoetewey

Third Grade: Mrs. Harmony Conner

Instructional Support Teacher: Mrs. Roselie Boldt

As we start our new school year please review the current handbook online carefully for pertinent information explaining our school and the expectations that are encouraged and enforced. Please feel free to ask your child’s teacher, office staff or myself for any clarification. Attending school regularly has a huge impact on student success. This year we want to make it a goal that every student misses no more than 9 days of school, or 1 day a month!

Tips to Promote Student Success and Learning at Morello Park Elementary School

  • Make sure your child is well rested, fueled with a nutritious breakfast and at school on-time. Morello values promptness.
  • Avoid scheduling vacations when school is in session and schedule appointments after school hours so your child does not miss the learning experience. Lessons build upon each other. Attendance is very important!
  • Continue to set up routines at home (bedtime, homework, breakfast, family time, responsibilities). Children need consistency and good role models.
  • Review your child’s homework daily and help your child to be a responsible learner by completing and returning the homework on-time.
  • Ask your child about his/her day. Listen to what your child has to say. Spend time talking with your child about what they are learning, and who they are spending time with at recess/ lunch.
  • Communication is important! Communicate with your child’s teacher and the school.  What you have to say is important.
  • Assume positive intent and model for your children. Positive attitude equals positive results.
  • Be involved at Morello Park. Even if you can only commit to one event a year, it makes the children feel good when they see their parents at school. It sends a message that you value their learning environment and it gives us an opportunity to get to know your family.
  • Join the Parent Teacher Association at Morello.
  • Support the Eagle Pride Five at home: Respectful, Responsible, Kind, Cooperation and Best Effort. Do something kind to someone and start a chain reaction in our school and community.
