Welcome to Our School Where Great Minds Grow and Character Counts Everywhere, All of the Time!

Dear Morello Park Families:

Welcome to the 20172018 school year. Learning is an adventure! We are dedicated and committed to seeing your child love learning. At Morello, your child will receive a well balanced education while making memories that last a lifetime. Together, we can make this year unforgettable in your child’s academic and social history. Your child is our future. Our goal is to do what is best for children and our leadership decisions prove that value. Children come first at Morello.

Our committed staff models our six pillars of character as they provide a meaningful academic program for all children. Our classrooms are structured learning environments that are motivating and consistent. We strive to meet and go beyond the rigorous California Common Core State Standards for Education, providing differentiated instruction to reach all students at their learning level. As the Morello team, we do our best to ensure that our school is a place where students want to learn and feel safe. We work closely with our parent community and staff to make continuous improvements for our children. The current handbook online, will give you pertinent information explaining our school and the expectations that are encouraged and

enforced. Please review the handbook online carefully and feel free to ask your child’s teacher or the office staff for clarification.

Again, welcome to a new year. We are looking forward to getting to know you and your family better. You play an important role in your child’s education. We welcome you, your involvement and support. Here are some ways you can assist your child to reach their maximum potential as you become partners with the school.

Successful Steps to a Great Learning Adventure at Morello Park Elementary School:

1. Make sure your child is well rested, fueled with a nutritious breakfast and at school on time.

Morello Park values promptness.

2. Review your child’s homework daily and help your child be a responsible learner by completing and returning

the homework on time.

3. Ask your child about his/her day. Listen to what your child has to say. Spend time talking with your child about

what they are learning, and who they are spending time with at recess/ lunch.

4. Make sure your child is at school. Schedule appointments after school hours so your child does not miss the learning experience. Lessons build upon each other. Attendance is very important.

5. Continue to set up routines at home (bedtime, homework, breakfast, family time, responsibilities). Children need consistency and good role models.

6. Communication is important! Communicate with your child’s teacher and the school. What you have to say is important.

7. Assume positive intent and model for your children. Positive attitude equals positive results.

8. Be involved at Morello Park. Even if you can only commit to one event a year, it makes the children feel good when they see their parents at school. It sends a message that you value their learning environment and it gives us an opportunity to get to know your family.

9. Join the Parent Teacher Association at Morello Park.

10. Support the Eagle Code at home: Respectful, Responsible, Kind, Cooperation and Best effort. Do something kind to someone and start a chain reaction in our school and community.

Together, we look forward to a positive year at Morello Park.
